TOO MANY VICTIMS, TOO LITTLE ACCOUNTABILITY
Car Crashes Are San Antonio’s Most Common Personal Injury Claim
Congested streets and highways make Bexar County one of the most dangerous places in Texas to drive. Insurers know this and move fast to minimize payouts before victims understand their rights.
J.A. Davis & Associates holds negligent drivers fully accountable, from minor fender-benders to catastrophic highway collisions.

San Antonio’s Most Dangerous Roads (TxDOT)
Where San Antonio’s Deadliest Crashes Happen
Culebra Road – Culebra Road is San Antonio’s deadliest non-freeway corridor, with 48 fatal crashes over the past decade — nearly double the next closest streets, South Zarzamora (25) and San Pedro (23). Stretching more than 15 miles across the West Side, the seven-lane road carries a mix of heavy commuter traffic, frequent driveway access points, and significant pedestrian activity. A TxDOT survey of roughly 20,000 regular Culebra travelers found that more than half felt the road was unsafe, and 63% said speeding motorists made it difficult to travel safely. More recent city data (2018–2022, trackingfatal and serious-injury crashes) confirms Culebra remains the city’s highest-risk street, with 116 such crashes — well ahead of the second-highest street, Bandera Road, at 38.
Loop 1604 – Loop 1604, San Antonio’s outer loop, saw 110 fatal crashes between 2013 and 2023 —making it the fourth-deadliest road in the city by this measure, behind Loop 410, I-35, and I-10. The corridor earned its “Death Loop” nickname decades ago, when it was still a poorly lit, two-lane rural highway prone to head-on collisions. Its deadliest recorded years were 2014 and 2020, each with 15 fatal crashes. Though it has since been widened into a multi-lane divided highway, Loop 1604 continues to rank among the most dangerous roads in Texas.
Interstate 410 (Loop 410) – Loop 410 has recorded more fatal crashes than any other road in the San Antonio area over the past decade, with 196 crashes resulting in one or more deaths. The loop also carries the highest overall crash volume in the city, with 3,449 total accidents recorded during the same period. Its combination of high speeds, heavy commuter traffic, and complex interchanges makes it one of the region’s most consistently dangerous corridors.
Interstate 35 (I-35) – I-35 ranks second in fatal crashes among San Antonio roads, with 153 fatal crashes and more than 3,000 total accidents over the past decade. The corridor is one of the busiest
north-south routes in the country, and national safety data has repeatedly named the I-35 corridor among the deadliest highways in the United States.
Interstate 10 (I-10) – I-10 follows closely behind, with 139 fatal crashes and roughly 3,000 total accidents
over the same ten-year span. Heavy commercial truck traffic and high-speed collisions are common contributing factors, given I-10’s role as a major freight corridor connecting San Antonio to Houston and El Paso.
