John Davis was a soldier before he was a lawyer.

He was the honor graduate of his U.S. Army Intelligence School class, earned the Army Achievement Medal, and then competed for four years on the All Army Athletic Team. From his All Army experience he learned two things there that he continues to practice every day: how to find the one fact that decides a case, and how to outwork and outlast an opponent who tries to make you quit.

Insurance companies count on exactly that when they deny, delay, and defend. It is a strategy built on waiting you out. John has been beating that strategy since his All Army competition days, and he has spent more than 25 years bringing that mindset to bear each day for injured Texans.

He has practiced law in San Antonio his entire career and opened J.A. Davis & Associates on Pleasanton Road, on the South Side, in 2003. The firm opened its McAllen office in 2013 and has served the Rio Grande Valley ever since. Places where his clients live and work, where most of them speak Spanish, and so does the firm.

In that time John has represented over 15,000 Texans and recovered more than $150 million for them and their families. He handles serious personal injury cases, work injury cases — including workers’ compensation and non-subscriber claims — and Social Security Disability. These are the places where working people get outmatched by adjusters and defense lawyers who are paid to wait them out and wear them down

Work injuries are where that gap shows most. Plenty of firms advertise for them. Far fewer know what to do once the case arrives. Some employers carry workers’ compensation and some do not, and a non-subscriber case is a different fight under different rules. Comp runs on its own deadlines and its own state agency. A hurt worker often has a comp claim and a separate claim against a third party at the same time, and how those are handled together can decide whether there is one recovery or two and how much. John has worked every side of that for more than 25 years, served on the Executive Council of the State Bar of Texas Workers’ Compensation Section, and lectured other lawyers on this material at State Bar advanced courses.

He takes cases from the first phone call through settlement or trial. He fights for you over every last detail, including any liens, because the justice you get and what you keep in your pocket is what matters.

Associate Attorney

Edward’s path to the law grew out of years spent working directly with the community. After graduating from Texas A&M University-Kingsville with a degree in Business Administration, Edward began working as a community organizer for a national non-profit, helping residents on San Antonio’s West and South sides access health insurance under the Affordable Care Act—many for the first time. That work, sitting across the table from families navigating complex systems and difficult circumstances, showed him how much of a difference the right advocate could make, ultimately leading him to pursue a career in law.

Edward earned his law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio. While in law school, he served as a staff writer for The Scholar: St. Mary’s Law Review on Race and Social Justice and worked as a student attorney in the St. Mary’s Civil Justice Clinic, where he first began representing clients directly.

Today, Edward represents clients in a wide range of personal injury cases, including work injuries, car wrecks, and commercial vehicle collisions. Since joining the firm in 2020, Edward has approached his practice with the same commitment to advocacy and service that has shaped his career from the beginning.

Edward is a member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and serves on the board of directors of the San Antonio Trial Lawyers Association. He is a graduate of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association’s Trial Advocacy College of Texas.

Associate Attorney

Frank Salazar is an Associate Attorney at J.A. Davis & Associates, LLP, where he focuses his practice on personal injury and workers’ compensation law, dedicated to helping injured workers across Texas navigate the legal process and secure the compensation they deserve. Licensed to practice in Texas since 2020, he brings a thoughtful, detail-oriented approach to every case he handles, working closely with clients to guide them through what is often one of the most difficult periods of their lives.

Raised in the Rio Grande Valley, Frank’s path to law led him to San Antonio where he attended the University of Texas at San Antonio, earning his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with minors in Criminal Justice and Legal Studies. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University School of Law.

He is currently a member of several legal organizations, including the Texas Trial Lawyers Association (TTLA) and the San Antonio Trial Lawyers Association (SATLA), staying engaged with the broader legal community advocating for injured workers throughout the state.

Beyond his legal practice, Frank enjoys spending time outdoors, whether he’s fishing, hunting, or traveling with his wife. In his younger years, he competed in classical guitar, an early discipline that continues to shape his focus and dedication today.
